About me

I’m Daniel Fishel, a Hypnotherapist and Counsellor, practising in Hendon, Muswell Hill and Belsize Park. I’ve been fascinated by the healing potential of hypnosis since 1989, when I took my first course in Leeds.  Many moons later (2011), I finally formalised my studies at the Essex Institute, under world-renowned Terence Watts, and now abide by the APHP’s code of ethics.  I am also registered with the GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register) and the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council), which is recognised by the Department of Health as the leading body in complementary and natural health care.

In 1997, I passed a two-year Certificate in Counselling (Park Lane College, Leeds) and am currently two-thirds through my Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling (Birkbeck College, London).

I value the ability to use counselling skills alongside hypnotherapy.  I also practise hypno-analysis. I specialise in working with children because of my background and current role as a part-time primary school teacher.

So far, my life has been spent in the “3 Ls” – Liverpool, Leeds (including Bradford) and London. I grew up in Liverpool, went to Bradford University (studying Interdisciplinary Human Studies), Bradford College (for my PGCE) then moved to Leeds in 1987 to join a band who were promised a million pound recording contract (which never happened!) and finally moved to London, late in 1999.

Besides being a therapist, my adult life has been largely spent on teaching (10 years at my last primary school as a class teacher and currently a private tutor) and music (24 years as a Community Entertainer, specialising in performing for the elderly).  I have one wonderful son, aged 21.
